Tattoos

I’m bored and I keep meaning to make this page. Now seems as good a time as any…

1. (Circa Nov 2006) 

This was my first tattoo. Chinese for “Faith”. It’s a bit of aninside joke to myself because I’m agnostic. (Also I love the character Faith from Buffy. :P )

2 & 3. (Circa July 2007) 

Left: “La dolce vita” is “the sweet life” in Italian. Also the chinese zodiac for Scorpio with the colors of the Irish (green/white/orange) and Italian (green/white/red) flags because, well… I’m Irish, Italian, and a Scorpio.

4. (Circa Aug 2007)

6. Circa Sept. 2008 

The last verse of the poem “Hymn to Aphrodite” by Sappho. My first gf and I got matching ones for our 6 month anniversary. It’s a Buffy reference (it’s the poem Willow is painting on Tara’s back in “Restless.” (And no, I don’t regret getting it.)

7 & 8. July 2009/Aug 2010 

Clouds/balloon: Based on the first line of the song “White Balloons” by Sick Puppies. “I’m holding on to White Ballons/Up against a sky of doom/Tell me you see them?” Done two weeks after Tri-polar came out.

Music notes: From the sheet music to my favorite Evanescence song, “Missing.” I wanted to make sure at least the first line fit. After that I just had him fill it in til he ran out of room.

9. Circa April 2011 

Lyrics from my absolute favorite song ever. “Just Keep Breathing” by Automatic Loveletter. “So save me from falling with the sound of your voice”

10. Circa June 2011 

Harry Potter lightning bolt. Matching tattoo that I got with Gabs because we are both dorks and love HP.

11. Circa October 2011  

Lenore, the cute little dead girl. Created by Roman Dirge, inspired by the poem “Lenore” by Edgar Allan Poe. This is just a picture I found in a magazine YEARS ago. For the longest time I didn’t even know who she was. I just loved the picture. A friend filled me in. I kept the picture, and turned it into a tattoo for what will be my music sleeve, by replacing her usual dead cat with a broken guitar.

12. Circa Nov 2011 

“Remember I Love You” My great grandmother passed away last summer. Right around her birthday, my mom, my aunts and I all got some form of this tattooed on us. It’s how she used to sign her letters. Rily.

13. March 2012

Paramore lyrics that I’ve been in love with since Riot! came out. I just feel like often times people underestimate my intelligence because often times I act dumb. I also have the memory of a goldfish. I notice a lot more than I let on.

14. July 2012

Evanescence lyrics again. “Can’t break the silence. It’s breaking me.” Along with a pair of zombie-esque lips stitched shut. I always loved this line and related because I wasn’t always the best communicator when I was with my first gf.  (Okay I sucked. I shut down completely. I wanted to talk, I just couldn’t bring myself to do much other than sit there and pout) I’m trying to get better at it.

15. October 2012

My Cheshire Cat tattoo. The start of my other arm and the Alice/Nightmare creepy Halloween theme I’m planning out. His body says “You may have noticed I’m not all there myself.” No special explanation here. I mean who doesn’t love Alice in Wonderland?
